In the field of agricultural development, Thai said Bac Giang is favoured by nature with diverse topography and low mountains and hills, creating high quality agro-forestry-fishery products. In particular, lychee is the main fruit tree with an area of over 28,000ha, the largest in the country.
The province’s lychee area in 2019 is over 28,000ha, with an estimated output of 150,000 tonnes. Of which, 13,855ha meet VietGAP standard and 218 ha satisfy GlobalGap standard. As many as 394 households were granted IRADS codes, mainly in Luc Ngan district. |
Speaking at the forum, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong appreciated the active participation of the government, state management agencies, enterprises and farmers of Bac Giang province in producing, promoting and selling typical agricultural products over the past time, especially lychee.
The province has actively promoted trade, sought and expanded markets for lychee. In 2019, it is expected that the total lychee output for domestic consumption will be about 75,000 tonnes, accounting for 50 percent and for export 75,000 tonnes, or 50 percent.

Tran Lam Hong, Deputy General Director of Saigon Co.op, said in the lychee season 2019, Saigon Co.op continues to bring Bac Giang lychee to nearly 700 points of sale with an increase of 25 percent in volume compared to the same period last year. The enterprise has developed a "Fruit Festival" programme combining lychee and fruits of other localities in June and July to honor and introduce Vietnamese agricultural products nationwide.
Promoting trade and supporting development
Many opinions also said that this economic forum was held more professionally and practically, thus opening up many opportunities for the province's socio-economic development.

Attending and delivering a speech at the event, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said that thanks to the drastic direction of the Party committees and authorities as well as the creative ways of Bac Giang, local lychee has been present in almost all markets across the country, from supermarkets, trade centers and wholesale markets to rural markets.
In particular, in addition to being exported to nearly 30 countries and territories, Bac Giang lychee has also appeared on flights around the world. The quality of Bac Giang lychee this year is much better than that of the previous year, with quite high prices initially.
“The presence of me as well as representatives from ministries and agencies at the forum today shows not only our attention to Bac Giang but also the Government’s attention to trade promotion activities connecting supply and demand for agricultural products and to the lives of rural people,” said Hue.
In order to help the agricultural products, key and typical products of Bac Giang province continue to improve their values, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue asked the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development to guide the province to implement quality management and traceability of lychee and other agricultural products to ensure conditions for export to the Chinese market as well as a number of potential markets.

The Ministries of Industry and Trade, Science and Technology, and Culture, Sports and Tourism should support the province in market information and market expansion through trade promotion programmes; connecting and developing tours and tourist routes; linking regions to promote local potential and advantages in tourism development.
