The project was approved by the provincial People’s Committee under the Decision No.20/QD-UBND dated January 11, 2017, with a total investment of nearly 1.3 trillion VND (57 million USD). It is an important project attracting private resources in supplying clean water to entire Lang Giang district and part of Bac Giang city.
In the past, investor DNP – Bac Giang water infrastructure investment JSC actively rallied resources and coordinated with the Lang Giang district People’s Committee in local site clearance. So far, site clearance compensation has been completed to facilitate the construction of a raw water treatment plant. Compensation for the construction of raw and clean water pipelines is underway.
However, several households have yet to agree with compensation prices for annual crops. Specific prices for housing and garden land in the same parcel are unavailable yet.
Speaking at the event, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Duong Van Thai praised the Lang Giang district People’s Committee and investor for directing site clearance compensation, ensuring the work is rapid and meets schedule. He stressed that it is an important social project that ensures clean water supply to entire Lang Giang district. Therefore, the investor and local authorities should work closely together in the effort.
He required the investor to outline a specific schedule for the work, study appropriate construction measures because the work impacts transport and local lives, and promptly deal with arising contingencies.
As regards the Lang Giang district People’s Committee, Thai said though the reclaimed land is not vast, the number of households living on it is quite large. Consequently, it is necessary to raise their awareness of the importance of the project. At the same time, it should work with the investor to agree on appropriate construction measures, ensuring it meets schedule and preventing it from affecting local lives.
