Held annually from the 30th day of the third lunar month to the second day of the fourth lunar month, the festival commemorates Princess Que My Nuong, who according to legend helped local people build dams and irrigation canals, bringing prosperity to the region.

The stream she is believed to have created later became known as Suoi Mo. Three temples were built along the stream in her honour.

Recognised as a national intangible cultural heritage event, the festival has become one of Bac Ninh’s major spiritual and cultural attractions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Chairman of Nghia Phuong Commune People’s Committee Nguyen Van Thang said the festival not only preserves traditional cultural values but also promotes local tourism and cultural development.

Following the opening drum ceremony, visitors enjoyed a special art programme titled “Suoi Mo – Sacred Land Shining Brightly,” featuring performances by artists from the Vietnam Youth Theatre, the Vietnam Dance Academy and professional singers and performers.

The programme recreated legends surrounding Princess Que My Nuong and highlighted the natural beauty and cultural traditions of Nghia Phuong through music, dance and theatrical performances.

Festival activities also include incense-offering ceremonies, folk singing performances, traditional games, sports events and community cultural exchanges, creating a lively atmosphere for both residents and tourists.

The Hung Kings Commemoration Day – the Hung Kings Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week in the Year of Binh Ngo 2026 will take place from April 17 to April 26, 2026 (from March 1 to March 10 of the lunar Year of Binh Ngo), featuring many new highlights and distinctive activities.
