Updated: 21:13, 11/11/2020
(BGO) – Responding to the emulative movement “The whole nation join hands for the poor”, the Fatherland Front Committee (FFC) in Bac Giang province and member organizations have launched many programmes and activities to deliver practical support. Thanks to the aided expenses to build house, preferential loan or monthly allowance, several poor and impoverished households are able to overcome the life challenges.

Supporting per specific address

In 2019, the province had more than 23,200 poor households, accounting for 5.05 percent and reducing more than 9,800 households against the last year figure. This year, the province expects to reduce the number of poor families down to 3 percent.

The FFC Chairman Tran Cong Thang said apart from the gifts to the poor on Tet occasion or emergency aid, the provincial FFC instructed the member organizations to coordinate with the local authorities to closely grasp the living condition of the residents to suggest suitable support method.

Particularly, the province has changed the support method per specific address in stead of widespread help as previous time. This way aims to sustainably reduce the poverty rate and leave no one behind.

As one of the active member organizations in calling for various sources to share the difficulties with the poor per specific address, since 2017, the provincial Red Cross Society (RCS) has called for more than 15.1 billion VND (651,545 USD) from the agencies, enterprises and kind-hearted person to deliver emergency and long term supports (6 months to 1 year) to 18,000 poor households in the province.

Exceeding the target to call for the donation of 60 billion VND (2.5 million USD), the humanitarian spirit inspires the organization, agencies, enterprises, districts and city to register to donate 65 billion VND to the Fund for the poor in 2020 and Social Welfare Programme in 2021 right after the launching ceremony.

Since early this year, the provincial RCS has coordinated with Dan Tri Newspaper to support 15 especially difficult cases with total expenses of over 5.8 billion VND (250,262 USD).

According to RCS’s Vice Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Thoa, the RCS assigns the member organization in the district to closely watch each address, flexibly integrate various form of calling for support, especially via social network.

Promoting solidarity spirit

Annually, basing on the actual situation, the provincial FFC launches the movement and assigns the criteria to build the Fund for the poor to the district level. besides, the FFC plays the pioneer role to call for member organizations to actively appeal the donation from the officers, staff and residents toward practical support.

One of the effective programmes with widespread humanity among the community included building great unity house. Typically, Ma Van Thang (born in 1979) in Heo village, Huong Son commune (Lang Giang district) seems to live in dream after moving to his new house one month ago. Though the small house of nearly 60 square meters is simply designed with total value of 120 million VND, it helps four member family stabilize the life.
