On behalf of the Bac Giang provincial leaders, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Le Anh Duong expressed sincere thanks for the visit to the province on early day of new spring 2022.

Recently, Bac Giang has had moderate cooperation with Italian partners. The export and import turnover of local companies to this market only hit over 36 million USD and 4.1 million USD in 2021 respectively. The province has received many aids from Italian non-governmental organizations such as GVC, GTV and CIAI.

On his first visit the Bac Giang, the Ambassador of Italy to Vietnam Antonio Alessandro paid special attention to two local strengths of agriculture production and wood processing which Italy ranks first worldwide. The country regularly organizes international trade fair and exposition relating to modern machine to process wood and wooden furniture. He hoped that in the upcoming time the Italian enterprises will contact the focal point of Bac Giang province toward cooperative relation.

Bac Giang confirmed due attention to educational sector and improvement of human resource qualification. Local students can select suitable field of study to the provincial demand of development such as high technology.

Currently, there are several scholarships for Vietnamese students. The Italian side expected to work with the provincial Department of Education and Training as well as Bac Giang High School for the Gifted to select talented students to grant the scholarships and provide short training course for young officials at the departments, sectors and agencies.

The PPC Chairman pressed that the European – Vietnam Free Trade Agreement (EVFTA) helps open up many opportunities for the businesses in two country, including Bac Giang province which has become popular destination for both domestic and foreign investors.

Besides the geographical advantage, the province attraction is created by open and smooth policy for investment attraction, high determination on administrative reform, improvement of investment and business environment.

Bac Giang boasts for biggest lychee growing area in Vietnam which is exported to more than 30 countries and territories in the world. The province wished to have fresh lychee export technology (farm produce frozen system) and considered Italy as a “door” to export the fruit to European market.

The Department of Industry and Trade, Agriculture and Rural Development were assigned to work with Italian organizations and businesses with rich experience in farm produce processing to promote the cooperation.

The provincial leader also hoped the Ambassador to pay due attention to the province and introduce Italian investors to Bac Giang.

For long time, the Italian education and culture have left deep imprint on Bac Giang people, especially the youth. So, the province delightedly agreed with the short training courses for young officials and students in Bac Giang.

The province also researched together with the Italian Embassy to hold exchange and cooperative activities in term of culture, sports and tourism to widely promote Bac Giang culture, which helps deepen the mutual understanding, friendship and cooperative environment between two sides.

At the same day, the delegation visited farm produce processing company Vifoco in Song Khe commune, Bac Giang city and Hoa Phu industrial park in Hiep Hoa district.
