In late October, an inter-agency working delegation from the Central surveyed Viet Yen district. The district’s urban infrastructure was evaluated with positive development especially the routes of connection such as the provincial road 295B to Dinh Tram industrial park (IP), the bypass from National Highway No 37 and lengthened Ho Cong Du road connected to Nguyen The Nho road in Bich Dong town. Besides, infrastructure of the new urban areas such as Dinh Tram - Sen Ho, Nguyen The Nho and Doc De has been completed to change the face of this locality.

Specially, in the socio-economic development master plan of Bac Giang province until 2020 with a vision towards 2030, Viet Yen is orientated to become an area for development of industry, agricultural farming and processing, handicraft, trade, service and tourism, according to Le Hoang Bach, Vice Chairman of the people’s committee of Viet Yen district.

Thus, the district has paid attention to industrial development in line with urban and service development ensuring synchronization between industrial planning and planning of other sectors.

To date, there are 4 industrial parks in the district on total area of 1,100 hectares including Quang Chau, Van Trung, Dinh Tram and Vietnam – Korea with average occupancy rate of over 80 percent. The commercial and social infrastructure for service development such as restaurant, hotel, worker’s housing, school and medical facilities have been invested.

Many routes in Viet Yen district have been built and come into use to facilitate people’s traveling and trading.

In addition, in order for more green space, the district plans to embellish the rivers and swamps in Bich Dong town and communes of Quang Minh and Ninh Son while building green tree parks combined with natural water surface to create a close system for the purposes of water drainage and creating landscapes and tourism value serving demand for relaxing and entertainment.

2 parks built in Bich Dong and Nenh towns in line with Trung Son and Huong Mai golf course and 123-hectare cultural complex of the district in Bich Dong town will be highlights in the public landscape system of the locality.

Improving quality of life, promoting cultural value

“So far, Viet Yen district has paid attention to investment in urban infrastructure and industrial development attached to preservation of cultural identity. Several relics have been repaired and embellished such as Tho Ha pagoda in Van Ha commune and Temple and Grave of the Commandery Duke Than Cong Tai in Hong Thai commune. Besides, the district has attached importance to improving people’s quality of life. In striving to reach the criteria of the fourth-tier urban area, the district has paid attention to vocational training and orientation to help local people seek for jobs after land acquisition. Policy beneficiary families, disadvantaged people, children and old people have been in good care”, said Nguyen Van Dung, Secretary of the Party Committee of Viet Yen district.

In a robust atmosphere of industrial urban area, cultural houses, parks and sport grounds are places for local people to relax after work. Currently, all of the 17 communes and towns in the district have cultural houses and community buildings including 125 cultural houses of the villages and residential groups.

Thanks to direction and attention of the party committee and government in line with involvement of the political system, the urban form of Viet Yen has become more thriving which motivates the officials and people to continue striving to fulfill the targets to upgrade Viet Yen district into a municipality in 2025.
