According to this Decision, the provincial People’s Committee was assigned by the Prime Minister to announce and award this district as regulation while directing Yen Dung district to maintain and enhance quality of the criteria focusing on the production and environment criteria to ensure sustainability in building new-style rural areas.

Thanks to high determination of the party committee, government and people of Yen Dung district, the district’s rural areas have been prospered after 10 years of implementation. By the end of 2020, 100 percent of the communes in Yen Dung district met standards of new-style rural areas and the district has completed all of 9 criteria on new-style rural district. Some 3.9 trillion VND (172.4 million USD) of total investment capital has been mobilized as of March 2021, of which some 1.2 trillion VND (53 million USD) was from contribution of the residents and other resources.

The district has concreted, embellished and upgraded more 664 kilometres of traffic roads against 2011. The economic structure has been positively shifted; particularly, reducing the proportion of agricultural, forestry and fishery sectors while increasing the proportion of industrial, construction and service sectors. The average income per capita in the communes in 2020 reached 43.4 million VND (1,918 USD) (up 26.4 million VND (1,167 USD) compared to 2011).

Besides, the district has seen comprehensive development of cultural, health and education sectors. The grassroots democracy regulation has been well implemented, security and social order has been reinforced, the political system has been consolidated, and the traditional cultural values have been restored and promoted. National defense and security has been strengthened.

To date, 5 districts and city in Bac Giang province have completed building new-style rural areas, 4 of which including Viet Yen, Lang Giang, Tan Yen and Yen Dung were recognized new-style rural districts.
