Vietnam's retail sales, service revenue up 9.1% in 11 months

Updated: 16:01, 08/12/2025

In November, the country welcomed nearly 1.98 million foreign arrivals, up 14.2% from the previous month and 15.6% year-on-year. In the January – November period, the number of international visitors to Vietnam reached 19.15 million, surging by 20.9% compared to the same period last year.

A favourable visa policy and effective stimulus programmes have helped Vietnam’s total retail sales and consumer service revenue grow 9.1% in the first 11 months of 2025, with tourism leading the way as travel earnings jumped by 19.9%.

Da Lat ranks among the top 10 destinations chosen by Vietnamese travelers for the year-end holiday season.

According to newly-released data from the National Statistics Office (NSO) under the Ministry of Finance, Vietnam’s trade and services sector remained stable in November, with total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue estimated to equal to the figure in the previous month and up 7.1% year-on-year.

A favourable visa policy, boosted tourism promotion campaigns, and a series of large-scale events in localities nationwide have attracted a strong influx of international visitors to Vietnam.

Tourism revenue grew 19.9% in the first 11 months, highlighting the strong effects of consumer stimulus measures and stepped-up tourism promotion.

The NSO reported that the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue were estimated at nearly 6.38 quadrillion VND for the first 11 months of the year, up 9.1% compared to the same period last year.

Other services earned about 665.5 trillion VND, accounting for 10.4% of the total revenue, picking up 11.2% year-on-year.

The results indicate that domestic consumer demand continues to be a pillar of economic growth. With the year-end peak season for shopping, tourism, and festivals approaching, the total retail sales and consumer service revenue in December 2025 are expected to rise strongly, helping sustain the recovery and drive GDP growth for the full year.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade and Hanoi's authorities are deploying a national promotional programme “Vietnam Grand Sale 2025” to boost trade promotion and domestic market development. It is expected to foster domestic market growth in the remaining month of the year.
