Vietnam to host AFF U19 Championship

The ASEAN Football Federation (AFF) has announced the groupings and fixtures for its U19 Championship to be held in Vietnam in August 2019.
Besides 11 teams from Southeast Asia, Australia will play in the tournament for the first time, and there will be two groups of six teams each.

Vietnam is placed in the tough group A along with Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, and Australia, while group B has Myanmar, Indonesia, Laos, Timor-Leste, the Philippines, and Brunei DS.
Vietnam's first match will be against Malaysia on August 6.
Malaysia won the annual tournament in 2018 in Indonesia, when Vietnam stopped at the group stage.
Vietnam finished third at the U22 AFF Championship in Cambodia last month and won the 2018 AFF Championship trophy at home.
Van Lam, Xuan Truong, Cong Phuong, and Trong Hoang have been valued as the Vietnamese footballers with the highest estimated transfer value, according to sporting website Transfer market.
The Vietnamese Embassy in Japan on February 24 held a press conference on and drew groups for a new football championship connecting Vietnamese firms in the country, held by the Football Association of Vietnamese in Japan (FAVIJA ).
Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted a reception in Hanoi on February 19 for head coach of the Vietnamese men’s football team Park Hang-seo and his spouse.
From the Asian U23 Championships a year ago through the Asian Games, the AFF Cup and recently the Asian Cup, Vietnamese footballers have shone on the international stage.
Vietnam’s national men’s and women’s football teams are expected to bring home gold medals in the 30th Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 30), which will take place in the Philippines later this year, said Minister of Culture, Sports, and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien.
