In the field of animal husbandry, Yen The hill chickens are considered the strength of the locality. The district always maintains a stable herd of between 4-4.5 million heads and a turnover of 1.3-1.5 trillion VND (55.95-64.56 million USD) per year.
The Yen The hill chicken brand has got industrial property protection in Laos, China and Singapore. This is one of the key products of the province that is targeted to meet national product standards.
Along with the hill chickens, Yen The has also took advantage of wide hills and gardens to raise goats with a total of over 13,000 heads, mainly in upland communes. In addition, the locality has paid attention to developing honey bee colonies, producing 90 tonnes of honey a year.
In the field of cultivation, the district has many products such as: Green tea in Ven village, Xuan Luong commune; citrus trees in Dong Son, Tan Soi and Dong Tam communes; longan and lychee in Dong Tam, Dong Ky, Dong Son and Hong Ky communes...
In recent years, Yen The has attached importance to carrying out solutions to develop key agricultural products in combination with tourism at the special national historical site of Yen The Uprising and community tourism in Ven village, Xuan Luong commune.
Speaking at the conference, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Xuan Cuong affirmed that breeding households and agencies at all levels in the province are on the right track to help the Yen The hill chickens constantly grow in both scale and quality.
In order to develop sustainably and gradually increase revenue, he asked the province to review and restructure the herd and apply high technology in animal breeding, ensuring equal quality.
Bac Giang should take measures to treat waste in husbandry to ensure environmental sanitation, he said, stressing the need to have measures to attract businesses to invest in husbandry associated with product processing and consumption. The ministry will direct its subordinate units to support the province in developing the Yen The hill chickens towards clean and high-value production.
On behalf of the provincial leaders, Secretary of the provincial Party Committee Bui Van Hai thanked the leaders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and the units under the concerned ministries, departments and agencies for creating favorable conditions for the province in general and Yen The district in particular to favourably produce and sell agricultural products, including the Yen The hill chickens.

He stressed that Bac Giang province has many mechanisms and policies to encourage the formation of concentrated agricultural areas. In Yen The district, the province has always paid attention to implementing solutions to develop the herb of hill chickens in both scale and quality.

On this occasion, the People's Committee of Yen The district signed a number of cooperation agreements on agricultural development, supply and demand connection, and production and processing with related units inside and outside the province.
Previously, on October 25, the People's Committee of Yen The district coordinated with a number of departments and agencies to organize a workshop on production, processing and sale of the Yen The hill chickens as well as orientations for production and consumption of the district’s agricultural products associated with tourism development.
