Bac Giang trade union joins hands with member to fight against Covid-19
Supporting trade unionists with affected job and income
According to the daily statistic from the provincial Labor Federation, the province has 65 enterprises affected by Covid-19 pandemic, 24 of which now start their operation while the remaining ones still face a lot of difficulties due to lack of production materials or limit of export order.

Among more than 8,300 workers with suspended jobs, nearly 260 cases terminated the labor contract while others take temporarily suspension. Besides, in the educational sector, some 3,000 teachers at non-public schools, private kindergarten facilities and contracting cooks have loss their jobs.
According to Diem Bich Lien, Head of the Policy and Law Board (provincial Labor Federation), apart from the laborers with terminated contracts, the suspended labourers can be paid basic salary in the contract, enjoy yearly holiday absence or make agreement with the enterprise to take absence in turn without salary, thus their income and life surely are impacted.
Amid the negative impact of Covid-19 to the production and business, the provincial Labor Federation instructed the trade union at all levels to strictly monitor the situation and supervise the payment for the trade unionists’ rights by the employers when reducing the number of workers.
At the affected businesses, the trade union established the local supervision group, so the enterprises seriously implement the regulation on paying for the workers’ rights.
The labourers taking absence in turn were paid 70 – 75 percent of the contracted salary. The workers with terminated contract were supported to fix the social insurance, receive the job loss allowance as stipulated by the Law of Labor.
Particularly, the trade union has taken immediate review to detect the difficult cases for timely support. Recently, the provincial Labor Federation has mobilized expenses to hand over 300 gift sets each worth 1 million VND to the unionists, workers, laborers living in difficult circumstances due to Covid-19 impact.
To call on various sources to care for the laborers, Chairman of the provincial Labor Federation Nguyen Van Canh called on the owners of the businesses, houses for lease and kindergarten facilities in the province to reduce and free the charges of room leasing, child care as well as the commodities for the workers.
Proposing further pandemic preventive measures
At the complicated development stage of Covid-19, the trade union at all levels have actively and drastically conducted synchronous measures. Apart from mobilizing expenses to buy and hand over face masks and hand rubs, communication documents, the provincial Labor Federation instructed the grass root trade unions to focus on propagandising to enhance the self preventive awareness of the members and laborers while strictly organizing the preventive measures such as checking temperature, asking the laborers to wear face masks and take regular hand wash.
As the result, all of 1,820 grass root unions in the province conducted the disease preventive communication to nearly 166,200 trade union members.

To protect the health and help laborers confidently working at the production facilities, many grass root trade unions consulted the business owner to implement several creative way to prevent and control the pandemic such as dividing the working shift to reduce the number of workers, drawing the distancing line for the working to stand in, checking temperature, ordering workers to keep the distance of 2 meter when queuing to the pick up carriage...
Vice Chairman of the provincial Labor Federation Ngo Bien Cuong said to promote the gained results, in the upcoming time, the provincial Labor Federation will instruct the grass root trade union to effectively maintain the local supervision group to supervise the businesses’ implementation of the legal regulation on laborers with affected job due to Covid-19 pandemic while timely detecting any violation to instruct the members and laborers to ask for legitimate rights.
Particularly, they should avoid the subjective and inattention; actively coordinate and consult the business owner about the preventive measures; encourage the laborers to compete in production to increase the productivity so as to meet the “double target” of pandemic prevention, economic development and job stabilization.
