Welfare programme for trade union members becomes more practical, effective

Updated: 10:22, 04/12/2019
(BGO) - After more than two years of implementation, the welfare programme for trade union members through cooperation agreements with units and businesses has brought about practical results, helping workers in Bac Giang province access products and services with many incentives.

Increasing chances for trade union members to benefit from the programme

According to the Policy - Legislation Department of the provincial Labor Federation, since the implementation of the programme (July 2017), in addition to 19 agreements from the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, the provincial Labor Federation has signed 16 cooperation agreements on the welfare programme for trade union members with units and businesses inside and outside the province.

Laborers buy products at preferential prices at the BigC Bac Giang Shopping Center.

As a result, more than 25,800 trade union members and workers have been using products and services at preferential prices, benefiting nearly 1.2 billion VND (51.8 million USD).

As one of the upper-level trade unions that directly signed agreements with partners, recently, the trade union of the province’s industrial zones has implemented this activity with the Lix Detergent Joint Stock Company. In addition to selling all products to trade union members and workers at discounts of 10-30 percent, the company has opened two fixed booths at the Dinh Tram Industrial Zone.

Accordingly, on the 19th and 20th every month, the company’ staff will sell products to serve the needs of workers from 3pm to 9pm. From now to the end of the year, the business will continue to coordinate with the trade union of the province’s industrial zones in setting up booths in the remaining industrial parks, creating favorable conditions for workers to buy products for their daily life.

Grasping the needs and payment conditions of the majority of workers, in a cooperation agreement with the provincial Labor Federation, the Viet Phu Payment Services Support Joint Stock Company (Mobivi) has chosen to provide electrical products and home appliances for workers in the form of hire-purchase plan from 3 to 6 months without interest.

For trade union members living in difficult circumstances and those buying products during maternity leave will receive gifts or have their instalment plans extended.

Over the past 2 years, thousands of trade union members in large enterprises such as Ha Bac Export Garment Joint Stock Company, Unico Global Vietnam Co., Ltd, and Crystal Martin Vietnam Co., Ltd. have selected products of Mobivi.

Renovating forms of cooperation

According to Ngo Bien Cuong, Vice Chairman of the provincial Labor Federation, in addition to bringing benefits to both employees and partners signing the agreements, some cooperation programmes have differences in benefits enjoyed by trade union members and workers who are yet to join the organisation in order to attract more and more people to become trade union members.

According to the Policy - Legislation Department of the provincial Labor Federation, since July 2017, more than 25,800 trade union members and workers have been using products and services at preferential prices, benefiting nearly 1.2 billion VND.

One of the new ways of implementing the welfare programme is the convenience supermarket model right on the premises of businesses. Recently, the Trade Union of the Bac Giang LGG Garment Joint Stock Company (Lang Giang district) has cooperated with a number of retailers to open M-Market supermarket which offers about 3,000 essential consumer products and foodstuffs.

With eight employees serving from 6:30am to 8pm daily, the supermarket fully meets the needs of workers in the enterprise. In addition to using quality products and enjoying incentives (discount, gifts) from customer care campaigns, trade union members who come to the supermarket are shopping in the form of "choose first, pay later" .

Nguyen Thi Thoa, a worker of the company, said: “Since the supermarket was opened, during breaks, I and many people have accessed the online shopping website of M-Market to choose items and pay via cards and come to the supermarket to receive the ordered goods at the end of the day. It is more convinient as when we do not receive salary yet, we can still buy goods here, and after that, the amount of money used to buy goods will be automatically deducted when the salary is paid to the account. I find this model is very useful and practical for workers. ”
