Particularly, Nguyen Thanh Thao excellently won 3 gold medals at traditional women’s chess event, Vu Tuan Chien bagged 1 silver medal and 3 bronze medals at traditional men’s chees event and Nguyen Dinh Manh secured 1 bronze medal at the same event.

With these achivements, Bac Ninh delegation ranked 2nd overall (after Ho Chi Minh city).

The tournament was jointly held by Vietnam Xiangqi Federation and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Lao Cai province, which took place from 3rd to 12th April gathering 144 chess players from 13 provinces, cities and chess clubs nationwide.

The chess masters competed for total 16 sets of medals at 4 events including standard chess, rapid chess, blitz chess and super blitz chess in both championship and tradition boards.

Bac Ninh delegation participated in the tournament with 21 players.

This is a good opportunity for chess players across the nation to exchange experiences as well as evaluate their technical and tactical levels; thereby detecting and selecting outstanding players to join the national team to participate in regional and international competitions.
