Updated: 15:41, 10/07/2025

BAC NINH – On July 10, Nguyen Van Gau, Member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the Bac Ninh Provincial Party Committee (PPC) received a delegation from Samsung Vietnam led by Na Ki Hong, General Director of Samsung Vietnam.

On behalf of the delegation, General Director Na Ki Hong congratulated Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces on their recent merger into new Bac Ninh province. Also, he congratulated Nguyen Van Gau on his appointment as the PPC Secretary. He expressed confidence that under Gau’s leadership, Bac Ninh will continue to grow strongly.

Na Ki Hong outlined Samsung’s production activities in Vietnam, noting that investment began in 2008 with a 670 million USD phase-one mobile phone factory in Bac Ninh.

To date, Samsung Vietnam operates six production plants, one research and development centre, and a sales entity across Bac Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.

As of end-2024, Samsung’s total implemented investment in Vietnam reached approximately 23.2 billion USD, making it the largest foreign direct investor in the country. Samsung employs around 87,000 people in Vietnam, with over 45,000 working in Bac Ninh.

In 2024, its six factories achieved revenues of 62.5 billion USD and export turnover of 54.4 billion USD. Factories in Bac Ninh contributed 31.4 billion USD in revenue and 25 billion USD in export turnover.

According to Samsung Vietnam, these results are inseparable from the contribution of component suppliers. Bac Ninh currently hosts over 70 first-tier Samsung suppliers employing around 80,000 workers, with transaction volumes of roughly 3.3 billion USD.

Na Ki Hong emphasized that any production disruptions at supplier companies would halt Samsung’s manufacturing and requested continued attention and support from the provincial leadership.

To ensure stable operations, Samsung proposed that the province guarantee high-quality and reliable power supplies.

Na Ki Hong also invited PPC Secretary Gau to attend a ceremony to award the Third-Class Labor Order to former Samsung Vietnam General Director Choi Joo Ho (2018–2025), scheduled for July 23, 2025, at Samsung Electronics Vietnam in Yen Phong Industrial Park.

Expressing his pleasure at the meeting, the Party Chief Nguyen Van Gau praised Samsung’s business results both nationally and within Bac Ninh. He briefed the delegation on the province’s scale and socio-economic situation following the merger.

After merging, Bac Ninh has an area of 4,718.6 square kilometers, a population exceeding 3.6 million and ranks fifth nationwide by economic scale. In the first half of this year, provincial GDP grew by 10.47%, while exports ranked second nationally after Ho Chi Minh City.

The province has 33 industrial parks covering nearly 10,000 hectares and collected over 41 trillion VND (1.8 billion USD) in budget revenue. National defence, security and social welfare remain stable, with all dilapidated housing eradication programmes now complete.

The PPC Secretary Nguyen Van Gau emphasised that Bac Ninh will continue expanding industrial park infrastructure and hoped Samsung would study opportunities to expand investments and production scale within the province.

He urged Samsung to gradually transfer technology to Vietnamese domestic enterprises and support private firms to join Samsung’s global supply chains. He also called on the group to continue accompanying Bac Ninh in social welfare and community development programmes.

In response to Samsung’s proposals, the Party Chief Gau directed relevant departments to proactively coordinate and resolve any difficulties arising during production, ensuring optimal power supplies for businesses. He accepted the invitation to attend the upcoming ceremony to award Labour Order and visit Samsung’s factory.

He confirmed that provincial leaders are always ready to work alongside enterprises to address challenges, creating favourable conditions for development.
