Bac Ninh’s lychee sales exceed 30,100 tonnes as prices rise
BAC NINH - Bac Ninh Province has sold more than 30,100 tonnes of lychees since the start of the harvest season, with prices significantly higher than in previous years despite lower output, according to the provincial Department of Industry and Trade.
Early-season lychees, mainly U Hong and U Trung varieties, accounted for about 29,900 tonnes of harvested output, while Thanh Ha hybrid lychees reached 238 tonnes. Harvesting of early-ripening varieties is nearing completion as growers prepare for the main lychee season.

Domestic sales totaled nearly 17,400 tonnes, representing about 57.7% of the harvested volume, while exports exceeded 12,700 tonnes.
China remained the largest export market, importing nearly 12,600 tonnes. Bac Ninh lychees were also shipped to several high-value markets, including Canada, the European Union, Japan, the United States, Australia and Thailand.
Agricultural authorities said that although adverse weather conditions reduced production this year, fruit quality has been strong, with attractive appearance, uniform colour and good flavour.
As a result, prices have remained high at an average of 60,000-70,000 VND (2.3 – 2.7 USD) per kilogram, well above levels seen in previous years.

Strong demand and smooth market distribution have helped lychee growers secure higher incomes during the harvest season.
Bac Ninh's total lychee production in 2026 is estimated at around 125,000 tonnes, including 50,000 tonnes of early-season fruit and 75,000 tonnes from the main harvest.
The harvesting period runs from May 25 through July, with authorities expecting another active marketing season for one of the province's signature agricultural products.
