Bac Ninh to invest in overpass project linking Hanoi-Lang Son Expressway
BAC NINH - Authorities in the northern province of Bac Ninh have approved an investment policy for the construction of an overpass crossing the Hanoi-Lang Son Expressway and a connecting road linking Quang Chau Industrial Park with Provincial Road 298B, as part of efforts to ease traffic congestion and strengthen regional connectivity.
According to Decision No. 751/QD-UBND issued by the provincial People's Committee, the project is designed to improve the urban transport network, enhance links between key traffic corridors and support the movement of goods and workers in major industrial zones, including Van Trung, Quang Chau and Viet Han industrial parks.

The infrastructure development is also expected to help attract investment, promote socio-economic growth and reinforce the integration of economic development with national defence and security objectives.
The project will span approximately 5.08 km, including a main route and a branch road.
The main section, around 4.21 km long, will run from the intersection of the Northern Ring Road and the main axis of Quang Chau Industrial Park to Provincial Road 298B, passing through Nenh and Van Ha wards. The road is planned as a primary urban arterial route with a cross-section ranging from 34 to 37 metres.
A key component of the project is a 292-metre overpass across National Highway 1, with a width of between 25.5 and 29 metres. Pedestrian bridges will also be built to connect service roads on both sides of the overpass, improving access for workers and local residents.
In addition, the project includes a 358-metre overpass crossing the Hanoi-Lang Son railway line and Provincial Road 295B, with a width of 25.5 metres.
The branch route will extend about 870 metres within Nenh Ward and will be developed according to urban planning standards, featuring a 26-metre-wide roadbed, a 14-metre carriageway and 12 metres of sidewalks.
Supporting infrastructure such as drainage systems, street lighting, traffic safety facilities, utility tunnels and other technical works will be built simultaneously in line with approved planning.
The project is classified as a Group B public investment project with a total estimated cost of about 2.094 trillion VND (over 79.5 million USD), funded by the provincial budget. Investment preparation is scheduled for 2026, with construction expected to take place between 2026 and 2029.
