Deputy Foreign Minister calls for international cooperation expansion to draw foreign direct investment project to Bac Giang

(BGO) – The working delegation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs led by Le Hoai Trung, Member of Central Party Committee, Deputy Foreign Minister, Chairman of Vietnam’s National UNESCO Committee on November 16 visited Bac Giang province. The delegates were welcomed by Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Duong Van Thai. 

At the meeting, leader of the provincial Department of Foreign Affairs briefly reported on the socio-economic development, security and national defence in the province in the past tenure.

Accordingly, the result of investment attraction hit record high with 464 foreign direct investment (FDI) projects with total registered capital of 6.1 billion USD. There are 6 ODA projects and sub-projects implemented in the province under the management of the provincial People’s Committee with total committed value of 1,760 billion VND (75.9 million USD) per sponsor agreement.

For recent two years, the province has received 10 foreign non-governmental aided projects with aided value of nearly 1.4 million USD as well as 26 non-project aids worth 850,000 USD...

On the occasion, the province proposed the Government and Ministry of Foreign Affairs to introduce suitable partners so that Bac Giang could complete inking the cooperative agreement with at least 4 foreign localities in 2021 while suggesting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to support the province to organize the event of Ambassador meeting in Bac Giang to promote the local potentials, advantages and chance of cooperation to the traditional partners (Japan, Republic of Korea) and new ones (EU, US, Australia and Canada).

The province also called for further facilitation in trade and commercial promotion; expansion of export market for key farm produce; completion of scientific document of Yen Tu landscape and relic site to submit to UNESCO to be recognized as cultural heritage.

The Deputy Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung highly spoke of the recent prominent result in socio-economy development and foreign affair task in the province. He urged the local authority to continue effectively implementing the diplomatic guidance and policies from the Party and Government, accelerating the international integration, taking advantages of the FDI programmes and projects relating to technology, education and training and medical sector while strictly following the legal regulation in project deal.

The Deputy Foreign Minister also commented on the provincial suggestion, proposal and affirmed that the Ministry will accompany and deliver further support to the province in actual implementation.

On behalf of the provincial leader, Secretary Duong Van Thai expressed the since thanks for the kind attention from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in diplomacy work and affirmed that the leaders in Bac Giang province always acknowledge the diplomacy’s role and importance on all fields. The gained achievements in the province were made thanks to the great contribution of the industry, including FDI projects. Apart from economic development, the province has paid due attention to preserve and promote the cultural values.

The provincial Secretary proposed the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to consult and support the province to well organize the meeting of Ambassadors, Association of business and investors on the occasion of Spring 2021.
