The Railway Project Management Unit under the Ministry of Construction is the investor. The new span is part of a project to upgrade and expand several bridges and tunnels along National Highway 1 in various provinces.
According to the design, the new span is 16.5 m wide with three lanes for motor vehicles, while the approach roads are 33 m wide with four motor-vehicle lanes.
Mai Xuan Tan, Director overseeing several bridge and tunnel projects on National Highway 1, said construction is on schedule, with about 90% of the workload completed. The bridge is expected to open to technical traffic on December 19 as planned.
Once operational, the new span will double traffic capacity and relieve pressure on the existing bridge, improving safety and convenience for residents. It is also expected to shorten travel time between the downtown area and industrial zones, facilitate the movement of goods, and support investment attraction.
The project creates a new transport corridor that will serve urban and industrial development and help enhance the province’s logistics capacity for 2025–2035.
