“Pho Day” festival expected to attract around 100,000 visitors
The “Pho Day 2025” festival will officially take place in Ho Chi Minh City on December 13 and 14. With more than 20,000 bowls of pho expected to be served, the event is projected to attract around 100,000 visitors.
The information was announced on December 4 at the press conference for “Pho Day 2025”, the ninth edition of the event, organised by the Department of External Affairs and Cultural Diplomacy (Ministry of Foreign Affairs), the Trade Promotion Agency (Ministry of Industry and Trade), the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Industry and Trade, and the Vietnamese Culinary Culture Association.

Accompanying this year’s “Pho Day 2025” festival are more than 30 pho stalls representing many well-known brands from north to south, such as H’Mong pho from Ha Giang (pho noodles made from corn kernels), Nho Pho Nui (Pleiku), also widely known as “two-bowl pho”, and Lac Hong pho (Nam Dinh).
Notably, the festival will welcome the presence of a Vietnamese pho brand from Seoul, the Republic of Korea (Khoe pho).
Each bowl of pho at the event will be sold for 40,000 VND. The organisers will contribute at least 10% of the revenue from pho sales over the two days, together with donations from readers and participating units, to support residents affected by the recent storm and flooding in Dak Lak Province (formerly Phu Yen).
At the same time, the organisers highlighted the theme of “spreading across five continents” by encouraging pho restaurants in Viet Nam and abroad to share information on activities held in response to “Pho Day” on December 12, thereby promoting and telling the stories of pho as it reaches the world.
Entering its ninth year, “Pho Day” has grown far beyond a simple culinary event. Initiated in 2017, the date December 12 was officially recognised as “Pho Day” in 2018, just one year after the programme was launched.
Its overarching goal is to have pho recognised as an intangible cultural heritage of the world by telling the story of rice grains and pho noodles and their unique cultural, culinary, diplomatic, and economic value.
“Pho Day” has not only become a major nationwide festival but has also expanded beyond Viet Nam’s borders under the name “Viet Nam Pho Festival”, which has travelled to Japan, the Republic of Korea, and, most recently, Singapore since 2023.
Specifically, in 2025, with the support of the Embassy of Viet Nam, the “Viet Nam Pho Festival” held in Singapore on October 18 and 19 welcomed more than 35,000 visitors to a variety of culinary and non-culinary activities, with tens of thousands of food portions served; alongside pho, other Vietnamese dishes were also introduced.
In addition, the trade networking activities at Viet Nam Pho Festival 2025 recorded more than 400 business interactions and exchanges between Vietnamese and Singaporean enterprises, resulting in several contracts worth tens of thousands of USD, as well as numerous memoranda of understanding that open promising opportunities for further exploration and deeper cooperation.
