He made the statement while receiving executives of several leading Swiss enterprises in the fields of infrastructure, heavy industry, high technology, electricity and pharmaceuticals in Bern, Switzerland on November 26-27 (local time).

President Nguyen Xuan Phuc receives Marco Gadola, Chairman of the Board of Directors of DKSH Group which provides market development services for Vietnamese companies wishing to develop their business.

During reception, President Phuc said at the 26th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP26), Vietnam committed to reducing greenhouse gas emission to zero by 2050. The country advocated developing clean and renewable energy such as solar and wind power, especially offshore wind power.

Vietnam wants Swiss hi-tech firms to grasp opportunities in these fields, he said, adding that as the country wants to develop infrastructure to connect with economic regions, he also expected more Swiss investment in this field.

Suggesting the Swiss Government offer financial assistance to encourage firms to seek long-term opportunities in Vietnam, he wished that Swiss firms would raise their voice on this issue and push forward negotiations toward the early signing of the Free Trade Agreement between Vietnam and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), thus opening up opportunities for trade and investment activities.

The Vietnamese leader also hailed Swiss companies for assisting Vietnam in the transfer of vaccine and medicine production technology, saying that it benefits both sides as well as helps save cost and time.

Executives wished to partner with Vietnamese firms in the production of vaccines and medicines and other fields in Vietnam.

They also expressed support for the signing of the FTA between Vietnam and the EFTA.

Young intellectuals actively contribute ideas for national development

Young Vietnamese intellectuals from around the world enthusiastically contributed their ideas and shared expertise and knowledge on innovation with a view to helping promoting the digital transformation process in their home land at a forum that closed on November 26.

Car registration fee cut by half again

A government decree has cut registration fees for locally made cars by 50 percent for six months starting December 1.

Industry gets rapid recovery

(BGO) – Though Bac Giang province used to be the Covid-19 epicenter in 20201, with the drastic instruction from the provincial Party Committee and People’s Committee, the industrial production in the province have well maintained and developed. The industrial production value in ten months increase about 9.95 percent comparing to the figure last year. 

116 OCOP products qualified at least three stars

(BGO) – As of November 11, 2021, Bac Giang province had 116 products of One Commune One Product Programme (OCOP) upgraded to four star from three star product including 34 four star (29.31 percent) and 82 three star ones (70.69 percent). It helped the province rank third in Northern mountainous region (only after Ha Giang and Bac Kan provinces) and twelfth nationwide.
