A programme was held on Nguyen Hue pedestrian street in Ho Chi Minh City on January 13, to celebrate 100 years of the formation and development of ‘cai luong’ (reformed theatre) art in Vietnam.
Through the performances of around 400 ‘cai luong’ artists and instrumentalists of different generations, the programme recalled the significant milestones of the traditional art form.

The event also honored acclaimed cai luong performers, song writers, directors, and costume designers who have devoted their careers to preserving and promoting the value of cai luong.
Audiences were entertained with famous excerpts from historical cai luong plays from the 1970s and 1980s that are still popular today, through the beautiful voices of People’s Artists Le Thuy and Ngoc Giau, and Meritorious Artists Minh Vuong and Thanh Kim Hue.
An exhibition displaying photos and objects on the art form opened the same day on the occasion, attracting great interest from many visitors and the city’s residents.

Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang grows from music contests
(BGO) - In 2018, Nguyen Thi Huyen Trang, a student of the Faculty of vocal music, Vietnam National Academy of Music (VNAM) received a lot of good news when she won the First runner-up title at the VNAM’s Talent and Beauty Contest and the Silver medal at the 6th Asian Arts Festival held in Singapore. The student born in 1997 at Dai Lam commune, Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province used to be a student of Phuong Son senior high school, Luc Nam district.
