Free film screenings to honour War Invalids and Fallen Soldiers’ Day
The Viet Nam Film Institute is organising a film week to pay tribute to the heroes and fallen soldiers who sacrificed for the independence and freedom of the Fatherland through historical films.
The event aims to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Day of War Invalids and Fallen Soldiers (July 27, 1947 – July 27, 2025).

The films will include the documentary “Nguoi thay giao thuong binh” (The War Invalid Teacher) and the feature films “Hoi chuong mau da cam” (The Orange-Coloured Bell), “Vanh trang khuyet” (The Crescent Moon) and “Dung dot” (Don’t Burn).
These films have won top prizes at film festivals or cinema awards. The feature film “Hoi chuong mau da cam”, produced in 1983 and directed by Nguyen Ngoc Trung, won the Silver Lotus at the 7th Viet Nam Film Festival and the Lidice Rose at the Karlovy International Film Festival.
The feature film “Don’t Burn”, produced in 2009 and directed by Dang Nhat Minh, won the Golden Lotus at the 16th Viet Nam Film Festival in 2009 and triumphed in six categories at the 2010 Golden Kite Awards.
The documentary “Nguoi thay giao thuong binh”, directed by Nhat Hien and produced by the Central News and Documentary Film Studio in 1971, won the Silver Lotus at the 2nd Viet Nam Film Festival.
The film “Vanh trang khuyet”, directed by Tran Phuong and produced by Feature Film Studio No.1 in 1996, is a post-war themed film. It tells the story of a war invalid who was once a soldier in the resistance war against the US for national salvation.
After the war, he returns to civilian life. Facing the hardships of his family and homeland, the former soldier always upholds the qualities of Uncle Ho’s soldiers, bringing happiness and trust to those around him.
The films will be screened for free at Ngoc Khanh Cinema, 523 Kim Ma, Giang Vo Ward, Ha Noi, from now until the end of July 23.
