Surveying Luc Ngan fruit tree area, introducing community-based tourism development potential

(BGO) - On November 29, the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism collaborated with the Luc Ngan district People's Committee to organize a fact-finding trip to tourist sites in the fruit tree area of Luc Ngan district, Bac Giang province.

Survey participants were representatives of a number of universities and colleges related to tourism training; the Departments of Culture, Sports and Tourism of northern midland and mountainous provinces; and more than 20 businesses providing travel services inside and outside the province.

The fact-finding trip aimed to diversify tourism products of the province and create linkages and cooperation in tourism development between Bac Giang and other provinces and enterprises.

The survey team visited some orange and grapefruit orchards in Thanh Hai and Tan Moc communes, listening to representatives of local authorities and households talking about the area, output and value of fruit trees. 

According to some experts, the area of more than 27,000 hectares of fruit trees of all kinds not only gives Luc Ngan farmers a large income but also is potential for the district to build and develop a community-based tourism model in the direction of experiencing orchards in combination with visiting landscapes like Khuon Than Lake and Cam Son Lake.

To develop the model, it is necessary to carefully study, evaluate and select typical and attractive fruit tree areas capable of meeting conditions for tourism development, especially transport infrastructure and connection with tourist destinations...

According to a representative of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism, after this fact-finding trip, in the coming time, the unit will study the organization of conferences and seminars to collect opinions of experts, managers and tourism businesses inside and outside the province; and sign tourism cooperation programmes.

Recently, the Bac Giang provincial People's Committee has approved the community-based tourism development support plan for 2019 - 2020, to be implemented in Na O village, An Lac commune (Son Dong district); Ven village, Xuan Luong commune (Yen The district); and the fruit tree area of Luc Ngan district.

The plan focuses on developing, managing, training and guiding the development of community-based tourism model; conducting fact-finding tours to study experience of other provinces; introducing, advertising and connecting tours; and providing capital support and facilities...

Within the fact-finding trip, the team visited a number of booths at the fair showcasing orange, grapefuit and other specialty products of Luc Ngan district in 2019.
