Vietnam, RoK strengthen cooperation in innovative design

The center, stationed at 17 Yet Kieu Street in Hai Ba Trung district, was set up on the basis of cooperation between the two countries within the framework of the project “Improving value chains for the Vietnam handicraft industry”.

It also came as a result of the collaboration process between Vietrade (under the Ministry of Industry and Trade) and KIDP (under the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy), which has been ongoing since 2010, pursuant to the Asia Design Sharing Programme, a design cooperation programme between Asian nations initiated by the Republic of Korea (RoK).
Addressing the event, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade, Do Thang Hai, affirmed the significance of innovative design to economic development in a country, while hailing the RoK as an outstanding example in the region and the world in terms of socio-economic development associated with the strong development of an innovative design industry with globally renowned brands, such as Samsung, LG and Hyundai, etc.
He expressed his belief that the VKDC would support Vietnam’s design industry, as well as its business community, to step by step renovate and develop products aimed at boosting exports and meeting the consumption demands of markets worldwide.

It also provides a venue for activities connecting businesses with designers, from both at home and abroad, as well as space for Vietnamese and RoK designers to exchange design initiatives and share the experience.
In addition, the VKDC organizes advisory sessions on design; helps Vietnamese enterprises to hire consultants in designing products, reforming models and packaging, and building trademarks; and showcase products with good design from companies, associations and localities from Vietnam and the RoK.
