Bac Ninh delegation visits RoK’s Gyeongsangbuk-do province

BAC NINH – A Bac Ninh delegation led by Mai Son, member of the Standing Board of the provincial Party Committee and Vice Chairman of the provincial People's Committee, had a courtesy meeting with leaders of the Gyeongsangbuk-do provincial government on April 22 during their working visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) province.

Gyeongsangbuk-do is located in the southeastern region of the RoK, with a population of approximately 2.6 million people.

Currently, there are around 8,000 Vietnamese citizens living in Gyeongsangbuk-do, many of whom are married to local residents, including a significant number from Bac Ninh.

These citizens play a vital role as bridges in people-to-people exchanges and cooperation between the two provinces.

During the meeting, the leaders of Gyeongsangbuk-do expressed their pleasure in welcoming the Bac Ninh delegation and appreciated the relationship between the two regions in recent years, especially following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on cooperation.

Furthermore, they affirmed their continued commitment to closely collaborating and promoting the effective implementation of cooperative activities across various sectors, with the aim of further concretising the MoU in the near future.

In his remarks, Mai Son emphasised that this working trip takes place following the formation of the new Bac Ninh province through the merger of the former Bac Ninh and Bac Giang provinces, with an increasingly larger scale and growing development potential.

The province has maintained impressive economic growth and continues to be an attractive destination for international investors.

In terms of economic cooperation, the RoK is currently the leading investment partner in Bac Ninh.

Gyeongsangbuk-do representatives introduce the “Pen and Ink” symbol at the provincial government office, symbolising the idea of careful thought before taking action.

As of February 2026, there are 1,141 investment projects from Korean enterprises in the province, with a total registered capital of over 16.2 billion USD, making the RoK the largest source of foreign investment in Bac Ninh.

These projects mainly focus on manufacturing, electronics, support industries, and semiconductors, with the presence of major corporations such as Samsung, Hanwha, Orion, and others.

The leadership of Bac Ninh and Gyeongsangbuk-do take a commemorative photo, showing their commitment to increasing cooperation in the future.

Mai Son urged Gyeongsangbuk-do to continue to support and connect businesses, promote investment, and expand trade cooperation.

He also stressed the importance of strengthening cultural and educational exchanges to deepen and enhance the practical and effective cooperation between the two provinces.
