Bac Ninh launches “Red Journey” programme and honours outstanding blood donors

BAC NINH- In response to the national voluntary blood donation campaign, the provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign (VBD) organised a ceremony to launch the 14th “Red Journey” programme in 2026.

The programme took place on July 21 morning at the provincial Convention Center. In line with the voluntary blood donation festival, the Organising Committee honoured outstanding collectives, families and individuals participating in the voluntary blood donation campaign in 2026.

The event was attended by Le Xuan Loi, member of the provincial Party Committee’s Standing Board, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee and Head of the provincial Steering Committee for Voluntary Blood Donation Campaign, Nghiem Xuan Huong, Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Council, Tran Thi Van, Deputy Head of the provincial delegation to the National Assembly, representatives of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion, the provincial Fatherland Front Committee and some relating departments and agencies.

The province hosted 91 blood donation festivals in 2025 and received more than 52,800 safe blood units, reaching 123 percent against the set target by the National Steering Committee.

Besides, 61 blood donation festivals were held in the first 6 months of 2026, receiving over 38,200 blood units, achieving 84 percent of the year’s target.

These results have signficantly contributed to ensuring blood resources for emergency and patient treatment while affirming the spread of voluntary blood donation campaigns in the province.

Vice Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee Le Xuan Loi and leadership of the provincial Red Cross Society encourage people to donate blood at this year “Red Journey” programme.

2026 is the 14th consecutive year Bac Ninh province has participated in the programme with an aim to mobilize the donation of 13,600 blood units, accounting for 30 percent of its annual blood collection target.

At the same time, the province will continue to strengthen its reserve blood donor network and maintain a pool of rare blood type donors who are ready to donate when necessary.

On this occasion, 316 outstanding collectives, famlilies and individuals participated in the 2026 blood donation campaign were honoured by the provincial VBD Steering Committee, who are excellent in communication, mobilisation and directly engagement in donating blood to save people, contributing to spreading noble humanitarian values in society.

Besides, the provincial VBD Steering Committee organised a blood donation festival, which gained 2,222 blood units on July 21 to contribute to the blood bank of the National Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.
