Bac Ninh provincial leader urges thorough preparations for Lunar New Year
BAC NINH - The northern industrial hub of Bac Ninh posted strong economic growth in January 2026, driven by a sharp rise in industrial output, exports and investment inflows.
Speaking at the province’s regular January meeting, Pham Hoang Son, Deputy Secretary of the provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Bac Ninh People’s Committee (PPC), said local agencies and authorities had moved early to implement socio-economic development plans, state budget estimates and public investment programmes for 2026.

The province’s industrial production index (IIP) surged 41.85% year-on-year in January, with the manufacturing and processing sector up 41.96%. Garment production rose 30.48%, while beverage output increased 4.59% amid higher demand ahead of the Lunar New Year holiday.
Total industrial output at current prices was estimated at 234.9 trillion VND (10.3 billion USD), up 39% from a year earlier.
Bac Ninh granted new investment licences to 40 projects and approved capital increases for 38 existing projects, with total registered and adjusted investment capital exceeding 2.29 billion USD.
Trade and services activity remained buoyant. Retail sales rose nearly 16% year-on-year to more than 13.98 trillion VND. Total import-export turnover reached 17.6 billion USD, including exports of 9.2 billion USD, up 53.6%, and imports of 8.4 billion USD, up 49.3%.
State budget revenue in January stood at 18.8 trillion VND, equivalent to nearly 26% of the full-year estimate, with domestic revenue accounting for the bulk.
The PPC Chairman called on departments and localities to accelerate implementation of socio-economic targets in line with resolutions of the Communist Party’s 14th National Congress, while stepping up budget revenue collection, public investment disbursement and administrative reforms to improve the business environment.

He also urged authorities to remove bottlenecks in land clearance, strengthen state management in land, construction and investment, and provide timely support to businesses, particularly in industrial parks, to ensure production stability after the Lunar New Year.
Regarding preparations for the Year of the Horse Lunar New Year, he instructed agencies to ensure sufficient supplies of goods, stable prices, food safety, electricity and fuel supplies, while strengthening social welfare efforts for policy beneficiaries, low-income households and vulnerable groups.
The provincial leader also stressed the importance of maintaining public order and traffic safety during the holiday period and promptly resuming production, agricultural activities and military conscription tasks after the holiday.
