The programme, launched between July 25 and September 2, was carried out by 508 grassroots unions in cooperation with company leaders and employers. Funding of nearly 15.4 billion VND (678.334 USD) came from union budgets, enterprises and catering suppliers. Each meal cost about 60,000 VND per worker.

On behalf of the prime minister, Nguy Thi Tuyen and leaders of the Bac Ninh Labor Federation present a certificate of merit and flowers to Nguyen Thi Bich Lien.

Local unions tailored the initiative to workplace conditions to avoid disrupting production, often combining it with other activities such as policy communication, awards and gifts.

The provincial federation also provided 207 gift packages worth 1 million VND each to workers in difficult circumstances.

Despite positive results, participants noted shortcomings, including limited communication and implementation in some communes and workplaces, and a low participation rate of 23% of grassroots unions. In large enterprises, meals had to be served in multiple shifts due to high worker numbers.

Nguy Thi Tuyen praised the unions’ efforts, urging them to strengthen collective bargaining, improve meal quality, and expand both material and spiritual care for members.

She emphasized the need to regularly monitor workers’ lives and company operations to maintain labor relations, and to continue the meal programme particularly in enterprises with large memberships.

At the meeting, Nguyen Thi Bich Lien, Vice Chairwoman of the Fatherland Front and head of Tu Son ward union, received a certificate of merit from the prime minister for her achievements from 2020 to 2024. Fifty grassroots unions were also commended for effective programme delivery.

On this occasion, the Bac Ninh Labor Federation signed a welfare cooperation agreement with Tapuho Vietnam Co. Ltd., based in Hanoi.
