Foreign tourists show growing interest in Hanoi during National Day holidays: Agoda

Updated: 11:00, 22/08/2025

Searches for accommodation in Hanoi by foreign tourists ahead of the upcoming National Day, to be marked by a series of activities, have risen by 84% this year.

Domestically, they are up even more, at 370%, according to online travel platform Agoda. The data is based on searches made between May 15 and August 15 for stays from August 30 to September 3.

Foreign tourists wearing conical hats and holding the Vietnamese national flag pose for photos with locals at Ba Dinh Square in Hanoi.

To help visitors enjoy the celebrations, Agoda recommended booking accommodation near prime viewing spots for the September 2 military pageant, including the Hung Vuong – Nguyen Thai Hoc – Hang Chao intersection, Le Duan – Nguyen Thai Hoc crossroads, Cua Nam Junction, Kim Ma – Lieu Giai area, and Hang Khay – Trang Tien near Hoan Kiem Lake.

Millions of people are expected to flock to Hanoi to witness the parade and troop review.

The pageant will feature around 16,000 troops and police personnel marching in 43 formations, supported by tanks, armored vehicles, flyovers, and, for the first time, naval forces parading off the coast of Khanh Hoa Province in central Vietnam.

In the weeks leading up to the holiday, Hanoi has hosted a number of cultural and tourism activities, drawing large crowds of foreign tourists eager to soak up the festive atmosphere.

This year the city has received 4.2 million international visitors, up 22% from 2024, and tourism revenues have risen by 15% to VND73 trillion (US$2.78 billion), according to its Department of Tourism.
