As many as 219 outstanding students in Hue city were presented with Vallet scholarships by the Rencontres du Vietnam (Meeting Vietnam) organisation at a ceremony on August 29.

The organisers present scholarships to students with outstanding academic achievements.

They included 152 scholarships worth 16 million VND (over 607 USD) each for secondary and high school students, and 67 valued at 32 million VND (1,214 USD) each for university students.

Addressing the event, Nguyen Thanh Binh, Standing Vice Chairman of the Hue city People’s Committee, said the scholarships serve as timely encouragement for high-performing students, inspiring them to strive harder in their study.

He stressed that the programme also nurtures a spirit of learning and self-development among Hue’s young generation.

Launched in 2001, the Vallet scholarship programme has grown to cover students nationwide. Jointly operated in France, Vietnam, and Benin, it has awarded more than 80,000 scholarships so far, including over 50,000 in Vietnam.

The value of the scholarships increases annually to better support students with their living and study expenses.
