The event honored 278 outstanding impoverished pioneers who achieved excellent academic results and actively participated in pioneer activities, including Lang Thi Phuong Dung, a Nung ethnic student in class 9A, Hong Ky Secondary School (Yen The district).

Though Dung lives in a difficult family in the northern province of Bac Giang, she has achieved the title of excellent student for years with several awards such as second prize at English at grade 7 in the district contest in the academic year 2016 – 2017, third prize at district level contest for Technology Invention in 2017 – 2018.
