Phuc Hoa to select, recognize “beautiful lychee gardens”
BAC NINH- This time, lychee in Phuc Hoa commune, Bac Ninh province is flowering and about to set fruit. To prepare for selection of “beautiful lychee gardens”, the commune maintains production on 845 hectares of lychee and guides farmers caring techniques.
This activity is aimed to select lychee orchards with high yield and quality, attractive appearance, which apply environmentally friendly cultivation procedures and combine with experiential tourism for evaluation and recognition of 15 “beautiful lychee gardens”.

It also helps to promote an emulative movement in lychee production to serve both domestic consumption and export market.
Selected “beautiful lychee gardens” must have an area of at least 0.5 hectares with trees from 5 years old concentratedly planted in rows, and be convenient for caring, harvesting, transporting and experience tourism.
Besides, beautiful lychee gardens must also meet cultivation standards such as VietGAP, GlobalGAP or organic procedures as well as standards of food hygiene and safety, labour safety and origin traceability.
Such gardens must produce big and uniform lychee fruits with attractive appearance, distinctive colour and flavor and consistent quality ensuring food safety.
According to Nguyen Bien Thuy, Vice Chairman of the communal people’s committee, in line with selection, the commune will set up database of “beautiful lychee gardens” in the locality linked with promotional and eco-tourism networks.
In addition, the commune will organise site visits to showcase the “beautiful lychee garden” model in connection with festivals and events to promote lychee consumption.
It will also provide support to orchard owners participating in the selection of “beautiful lychee gardens” with agricultural supplies, certification to VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards, training and communication activities.
