Two Bac Ninh athletes win two more gold medals at SEA Games 33
BAC NINH - On the afternoon of December 15, Wushu fighter Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy from Bac Ninh province competed in the women’s 60kg sanshou event at the 33rd SEA Games.
In the final, she faced Myanmar’s Cherry Than. Thanks to her strong performance, Thu Thuy comfortably won the first round. Although she lost the second, she showed her class in the decisive third round, completely dominating with fast and decisive attacks to secure a swift victory over Cherry Than.

With the emphatic win, Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy claimed a convincing gold medal, reaffirming her status as one of the world’s leading fighters in the women’s 60kg division. The SEA Games 33 gold capped a highly successful year for Bac Ninh’s Wushu “golden girl”.
Since the start of 2025, she has won a gold medal at the 2025 World Sanshou Cup, a gold medal at the 2025 Asian Sanshou Cup, a silver medal at the 2025 World Games and a gold medal at the World Wushu Championships.
Also on the same afternoon, Bac Ninh star runner Nguyen Thi Oanh competed in the women’s 10,000m and won gold. It was her second gold medal at SEA Games 33.

As of 6:30 p.m. on December 15, Vietnam’s sports delegation had added five gold medals through Nguyen Thi Thu Thuy, Truong Van Chuong (Wushu), Quach Thi Lan (athletics), Nguyen Trung Cuong and Nguyen Thi Oanh (athletics).
The team also won six silver medals from Trinh Thu Vinh, Pham Quang Huy (shooting), Nguyen Thi Thuy Tien (weightlifting), the women’s triples petanque team, Nguyen Duc Son (athletics) and Le Thi Tuyet (athletics).
Two bronze medals were claimed by Le Duc Huy and Pham Van Nghia (athletics).
