According to booking data from the digital travel platform Agoda, Viet Nam has risen to third place among the top five Asian countries with the highest return rates of international tourists, ranking behind only Japan and Thailand. Notably, Da Nang has, for the first time, made it into the top 10 Asian cities with the highest rate of returning visitors.

Based on Agoda’s booking data for the first six months of 2025, Viet Nam secured third place among the top five Asian countries with the highest return rates, surpassing Malaysia and Indonesia and trailing only Japan and Thailand.
Remarkably, Da Nang has entered the top 10 Asian cities with the highest rate of returning visitors for the first time — a significant leap considering that Viet Nam had no representatives in the rankings last year.
This vibrant coastal city in central Viet Nam has officially joined the ranks of Asia’s most attractive destinations, reflecting the growing appeal of Viet Nam on the regional tourism map.
The top five destinations in Viet Nam with the highest return rates in the first half of this year were Da Nang, Nha Trang, Ho Chi Minh City, Ha Noi, and Phu Quoc.
While the three coastal paradises captivate visitors with their fine white sands, crystal-clear waters, and sun-drenched resorts, Ho Chi Minh City and Ha Noi charm travellers with their vibrant energy, rich cultural depth, and diverse local cuisine, offering a harmonious blend of relaxation and authentic local experiences.
These destinations possess a unique allure that makes a single visit feel insufficient. Many tourists choose to return to complete an unfinished journey, relive cherished memories, or simply to bask once more in the familiar comfort of a place that holds emotional significance.
Agoda’s data revealed many instances of travellers returning to the same destination multiple times within just the first half of the year, clearly demonstrating the enduring appeal of places with distinctive charm.
Vu Ngoc Lam, Country Director of Agoda in Viet Nam, shared that from the modern rhythm of city life to the stunning beauty of sunlit beaches, Viet Nam offers rich and distinctive experiences that are compelling enough to keep visitors coming back time and again..
“Viet Nam’s inclusion among Asia’s top destinations with the highest rate of returning visitors is a positive sign, reflecting the country’s diverse and ever-growing appeal,” Vu Ngoc Lam emphasised.
In addition to Viet Nam, the rankings also highlighted other destinations with high return rates, including Bangkok (Thailand), Tokyo (Japan), Seoul (the Republic of Korea), Bali (Indonesia), Osaka (Japan), Taipei (Taiwan – China), Kuala Lumpur and Johor Bahru (Malaysia), and Hong Kong (China).
Each destination boasts its own unique charm, from vibrant cultures to distinctive cuisine, ensuring that every journey offers something new to explore.
