Updated: 16:05, 22/09/2025

Both sides emphasised that the press plays a pioneering role on the ideological front, with each news outlet carrying the responsibility of contributing to national development and social progress.

A delegation of the Vietnam People’s Army Newspaper, led by its Editor-in-Chief Major General Doan Xuan Bo, paid a working visit to Cuba from September 12–20 to strengthen cooperation and share professional experience with local media organisations.

The meeting between the Vietnam People’s Army Newspaper’s delegation and Prensa Latina journalists.

During the visit, the delegation held discussions with the Union of Journalists of Cuba (UPEC), Ideas Multimedios, and Prensa Latina news agency.

Both sides emphasised that the press plays a pioneering role on the ideological front, with each news outlet carrying the responsibility of contributing to national development and social progress.

The discussions also focused on ways to improve professional training in the digital era, counter misinformation to safeguard national sovereignty in cyberspace, and develop multi-platform journalism using new technologies and artificial intelligence.

In a friendly and open atmosphere, the two sides exchanged experience in promoting the ideological foundation of the Party, countering hostile and distorted views, enhancing the quality of external communications, and deepening the special friendship between Vietnam and Cuba.

UPEC President Ricardo Ronquillo Bello affirmed that the Cuban press always pay attention to covering stories about Vietnam, its people, and the special brotherly friendship between the two countries as well as effective bilateral defence cooperation.

On behalf of the Vietnamese delegation, Bo stressed that throughout their revolutionary paths, the people of Vietnam and Cuba have always stood shoulder to shoulder, sharing hardships as well as victories.

He recalled the immortal words of Cuban leader Fidel Castro: “For Vietnam, Cuba is willing to shed its own blood!”.

As part of the trip, the Vietnamese delegation visited and laid a wreath at the statue of President Ho Chi Minh in the park named after the late leader in the Cuban capital of Havana.
