Bac Ninh applies high technologies in agriculture

Updated: 08:22, 02/10/2025

BAC NINH- After the merger, Bac Ninh province brings together the advantages of diversified material areas and modern industrial and logistics infrastructure. This is a good opportunity for high-tech agriculture to rise as a key sector, both increasing product value and expanding domestic and international markets.

As mentioning high-tech agriculture in Bac Ninh province, lychee is indispensable, which is a national brand affirming its stature in international market.

With a total area of around 30,000 hectares including 18,000 hectares meeting VietGAP and global GAP standards, lychee is exported to over 30 countries and brings about thousands of billion VND each year.

In recent years, farmers and cooperatives in the entire province have promoted technology applications including drip irrigation, using bio-organic fertilizers, QR code for traceability and preserving fresh flavour of lychee to meet strict requirements of demanding markets.

The province successfully exported around 430 tonnes of lychee to high-end markets such as US, Canada, Japan and EU in 2025.

The products were sold on the shelves of big supermarkets like Safeway, Albertsons, Costco, Selgros, Rungis International Market and among others. It gave more room for Bac Ninh to attract investment in modern processing chains to form close value chains.

DELCO Farm is a high-tech agricultural complex located in Ninh Xa ward, covering a total area of 6 hectares with an investment capital of over 60 billion VND (2.27 million USD).

This farm is designed as an integrated farming ecosystem consisting of 2 hectares of water surface for fish culturing, 2 high-efficiency layer chicken farming areas, a 7,000-metre square greenhouse for Japanese melon cultivation yielding about 50 tonnes per year and 1,000- metre square greenhouse cultivating hydroponic vegetables.

Notably, the entire production system in DELCO Farm is controlled by an automatic software developed by Vietnamese engineers, which is integrated with internet of things (IoT) meeting 4.0 industry standards.

In the 2020-2025 period, Bac Ninh’s agriculture achieved comprehensive development in sustainable and modern manners with a focus on high-tech, organic, green and circular farming, well adapting to climate change.

The province has made good use of its advantages in soil and climate conditions, applied technological advancements and attached production to processing and consumption to enhance product values.

Many tailored policies and mechanisms have been implemented. A number of major concentrated commodity production areas have been formed when several plants and livestock are among top leading localities in Vietnam.

The province is home to 1,634 facilities applying high technology in production including over 60 percent of farm products meeting VietGAP and GlobalGAP standards.

It boasts 7,000 hectares of high-tech farming land, with an average annual production value growth of 12 to 15 percent.

High-tech farming accounts for over 30 percent of the whole sector with product value increasing from 17 to 30 percent compared to traditional cultivation.

Development of high-tech agriculture in Bac Ninh province is a long-term strategy to improve product values and expand market. However, it needs synchronous implementation of policies, infrastructure and regional linkage as well as technology innovation to make breakthroughs.

Bac Ninh’s farm produce is expected to serve not only domestic but also international markets, as a pride of the Kinh Bac homeland.
