Bac Ninh has around 184,000 hectares of agricultural land including nearly 54,000 hectares of fruit growing area earning over 7.4 trillion VND (280.6 million USD) per year.

The key fruits such as lychee, longan, orange, pomelo and custard apple have presented in many markets. One of the factors helping Bac Ninh farm produce reach the world market is origin traceability system.

Yen Dung Clean Vegetable Cooperative specializes in production and trading of clean veggies and fruits applying high technologies with more than 30 hectares of greenhouses and net houses together with an automatic irrigation and fertilization system based on Israeli technology.

In order to build up its reputation and trademark, the cooperative always attaches importance to transparency in its production processes. Thus, it proactively registered planting area codes for many of its key products such as baby cucumber, pepper and queen melon.

Customers can scan the QR codes with their smart phones to trace all information about origin and caring process of the product.

Bac Ninh is renowned as the kingdom of lychee and many other high-quality fruits. Particularly, 240 lychee planting area codes have been granted in the province with total 17,400 hectares and 42 packaging unit codes, many of which are for export.

Thanks to the “digital passport”, the volume of exported lychee in 2025 reached over 78,000 tonnes, accounting for 38 percent of the total output.

The province’s lychees have conquered many high demanding markets including Europe and US and sold in several large supermarket networks such as Safeway, Costco, Selgros and Rungis.

To ensure information transparency of agricultural products, the provincial People's Committee has paid arduous attention to implementing various support policies for stakeholders.

The province is currently carrying out a project on implementing, applying and managing traceability systems for 2021-2025 period.

Officer of the Cooperative Development Support Center (under the provincial Cooperative Alliance) introduces OCOP products with QR and bar codes for origin traceability.

It will strive to have at least 30 percent of businesses, cooperatives and production, trade and service facilities in the province use identification and bar codes with traceability system applying national and international standards.

Besides, 100 percent of exported goods and products listed in the key, signature, potential and OCOP groups will be applied with origin traceability system.

The province has had 404 planting area codes covering over 18,800 hectares and 43 packaging facilities granted codes for export as of Augus 2025.

Bac Ninh province also developed the plan on implementation of the origin traceability project for 2026-2030 period. Accordingly, it is targeted that 100 percent of organizations and individuals producing key and OCOP products and export goods meeting requirements will apply traceability systems.
