To enter the Australian market, growers must meet strict requirements: fruit size of 60 pieces per kilogram, no pesticide residues, free of fungi and insects, and irradiation treatment.
Following the harvest, businesses plan to work with local cooperatives to sign contracts, supply fertilizers and plant protection products, and apply production protocols to secure output and quality for next season’s exports.
This year, Bac Ninh province has maintained over 3,600 hectares of longan cultivation, including 600 hectares of late-harvest varieties.
Of the total, 2,500 hectares are produced under VietGAP standards, with 10 hectares certified VietGAP and another 10 hectares GlobalGAP. Output is expected to exceed 24,000 tonnes, up more than 4,000 tonnes from 2024. Nearly 16,000 tonnes have been harvested so far.
The province has also established 35 plantation codes and one packing facility code for export to China, Australia, Japan and the United States.
In the coming months, the Department of Agriculture and Environment will work with local authorities to promote market connections and boost agricultural sales, including fresh longans.
