Bac Ninh applies Kaizen tool from schools to factories
BAC NINH- The linkage model among vocational schools, science management agencies, technology providers and factories has been properly implemented in northern province of Bac Ninh so far. The model features Kaizen tool (continuous improvement) in production, creating a complete chain in training, transfer and application to enhance quality of human resources as well as production efficiency.
Kaizen is a Japanese business philosophy and management method. This method applies supporting tools such as 5S (Seiri (sort), Seiton (set in order), Seiso (shine), Seiketsu (standardize) and Shitsuke (sustain)) or error and waste identification systems (Lean) to optimize production processes, eliminate waste, save materials, and ensure consistent product quality while effectively meeting requirements for delivery time and schedules.

Kaizen tool is applied at Sungwoo Vina Company Limited (in Thuan Thanh III industrial park). |
It helps domestic enterprises to increase their product values, complying with required standards to participate in global manufacturing networks.
The Department of Science and Technology plays the central role in connecting resources in the innovation ecosystem of Bac Ninh province.
Yokoi Mould Vietnam Company Limited in Dinh Tram industrial park is a Japanese company, which manufactures moulds and other plastic products including vehicle components and electronic devices.
Application of Kaizen tool in the company has made dramatic changes, particularly minimizing tool search time, reducing errors, improving working environment and increasing productivity from 8 to 18 percent. Besides, it helps to improve working culture, create more scientific and safer production environment.
Students of Bac Ninh College of Industry have had opportunities to gain on-job learning and hands-on experience at Yokoi Mould Vietnam Company Limited thanks to the training cooperation programme between the college and company.
“Practicing use of Kaizen tool at every job position helps us to update technological knowledge, modern equipment and skills applied at the company. Thus, the college and company can collaborate in demand-driven labour training, meanwhile students will have good job opportunities after graduating”, said Chu Van Truong, a student of Bac Ninh College of Industry.
In fact, the linkage model among vocational schools, science management agencies, technology providers and factories through application of Kaizen tool helps to synchronize training, technology transfer, management and running production.
With synchronous implementation from schools to enterprises, this model will become a “key” in building high quality human resources. It is a sustainable way as a foundation for high quality human resources and competitiveness of Bac Ninh province.
