Bac Ninh provincial Party Chief urges faster progress on Gia Binh international airport project
BAC NINH – The Bac Ninh Provincial Party Secretary Nguyen Hong Thai has called for intensified efforts to resolve bottlenecks and speed up implementation of the Gia Binh International Airport project, stressing the need to maintain momentum and ensure the legitimate interests of affected residents
Chairing a meeting on January 5 in Gia Binh commune, Nguyen Hong Thai, a member of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and head of the steering committee for the airport project and related schemes, reviewed progress, obstacles and the results of compensation and site clearance work.

The Gia Binh International Airport project covers nearly 2,000 hectares across Gia Binh, Luong Tai, Nhan Thang and Lam Thao communes, affecting tens of thousands of residents. Land to be acquired includes residential land, agricultural land and cemetery areas.
Following on-site inspections, discussions with local residents and consultations at the meeting, the provincial Party Chief praised the efforts and coordination of relevant agencies and steering committee members.

He also thanked affected households for their consensus and willingness to relocate for the common good, noting that this cooperation has helped accelerate progress and deliver positive results.
He urged authorities to maintain the pace, focus on removing remaining obstacles and uphold a strong sense of responsibility.
The Department of Industry and Trade was tasked with coordinating with relevant agencies, local authorities and households to preserve and develop traditional craft villages, particularly those directly affected by the project.
The provincial leader said land inventory, compensation payments, resettlement preparation and grave relocation must be carried out in a synchronized manner. For unclaimed graves, he asked consultants to propose appropriate designs that save land while remaining respectful and dignified, with localities contributing to avoid waste.

The provincial People’s Committee was instructed to review policies and consider prioritising social housing allocations for families whose land is being acquired, ensuring livelihoods are safeguarded and residents are not disadvantaged.
He also stressed the need to ensure safety during construction, mobilise manpower and further accelerate progress.
Earlier, the provincial Party Chief and his delegation conducted field inspections and visited several bronze casting facilities and traditional bamboo and rattan craft villages in Gia Binh commune.
