Bac Ninh emerges as a hub for high-quality labor

Updated: 16:24, 08/09/2025

BAC NINH - With its rapid industrial development and strong foreign direct investment (FDI) inflows in high-tech sectors, Bac Ninh province is increasingly becoming a magnet for skilled labor. The province not only generates jobs for unskilled workers but also attracts highly qualified employees from across the country.

Expanding job opportunities

Bac Ninh has planned more than 50 industrial parks, with over 20 already in operation. The province is home to nearly 25,000 active enterprises, employing about 780,000 workers, including 552,000 in industrial zones.

Workers seek job opportunities at Bac Ninh Employment Service Center No. 2.

Global technology giants such as Samsung Display, Amkor Technology, Goertek and Samsung Electronics have established operations here, turning Bac Ninh into a strategic destination for Asia’s high-tech supply chains.

The rapid expansion of advanced industries like robotics, electronic boards, chips and semiconductors is fueling demand for engineers, technicians and managers, not just assembly-line workers.

Modern, multicultural workplaces offer training abroad, career advancement and competitive benefits, making Bac Ninh attractive to young professionals seeking global exposure.

Alongside technical roles, supporting office-based positions such as accounting, human resources, customs declaration, procurement and environmental safety are also in high demand. These jobs provide clear promotion paths and flexibility for workers who can strengthen their soft skills and foreign language abilities.

In the past, many Bac Ninh graduates sought jobs in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City or other major centers. Recently, more have chosen to return home to build careers.

Nguyen Thi Huong, born in 1998, and her husband worked in Hanoi after graduation but moved back to Bac Ninh to join Yen Phong Industrial Park.

“My salary here is slightly lower than in Hanoi, but living close to home means no rent, lower expenses and much more convenience. We save more each month and have more time for family,” Huong said.

Competition drives personal growth

Despite ample opportunities, competition is intense, especially for young graduates. Pham Minh Duc, born in 2000, struggled to find a suitable job after graduating from Hanoi University of Science and Technology.

In addition to technical expertise, supplementary skills such as office IT, financial management, teamwork, and especially foreign languages are requirements for most FDI enterprises when recruiting high-quality workers.

Realizing his weak English skills were a barrier, he spent a year improving his communication and eventually secured a job at Yen Phong Industrial Park.

Companies in Bac Ninh increasingly require not only technical expertise but also supplementary skills in IT, finance, teamwork and especially foreign languages.

According to Bac Ninh’s Employment Service Center No. 2, demand for skilled labor rose from 15% of total recruitment in 2023 to nearly 25% in 2024, and reached 20% in the first eight months of 2025. Each skilled vacancy often attracts 7–10 applicants. Yet, many candidates still fall short due to weak language or soft skills despite meeting technical standards.

The growing competition pushes individuals to continuously improve. Hoang Thi Bien, born in 1997 in Thanh Hoa, once worked as a seasonal laborer in Bac Ninh. Determined to advance, she studied Chinese and management skills, eventually landing a stable position at a major company in Tien Son Industrial Park. She is now upgrading her qualifications from college to university. “Improving my education gives me more control over my career,” Bien said.

Similarly, Mong Thi Hong Anh, born in 2000 in Thai Nguyen, graduated from Hanoi Foreign Trade University in 2022 and worked as an interpreter for several FDI companies in Van Trung and Quang Chau industrial parks. Fluent in English and Korean, she also trained in human resources management and now holds a solid role as an operations manager at a Korean-invested firm.

With a dynamic business ecosystem and favorable labor policies, Bac Ninh continues to consolidate its status as an attractive destination for high-quality workers. This trend not only benefits enterprises but also helps the province achieve its goal of building a stronger, more competitive workforce.
