On August 9, a delegation led by Le Xuan Loi, Vice Chairman of Bac Ninh People’s Committee (PPC), visited Son La to meet residents affected by historic rainfall from July 26 to August 1.

The storms caused flash floods and landslides, killing or leaving missing six people, injuring five, destroying over 1,180 houses, sweeping away 13 bridges, damaging roads, irrigation works and more than 400 hectares of crops. Losses are estimated at nearly 850 billion VND (37.2 million USD).

Bac Ninh province donated 3 billion VND in cash, 50 water tanks worth 75 million VND and 10 water heaters worth 52 million VND. The PPC Vice Chairman conveyed condolences from Bac Ninh’s leadership, urging Son La authorities to help victims rebuild livelihoods, prepare for future extreme weather and ensure public health in flood-hit areas.

Son La provincial Vice Chairwoman Trang Thi Xuan thanked Bac Ninh for its solidarity, pledging timely distribution of aid to residents and hoping for continued cooperation.

On August 8, another Bac Ninh delegation, led by Nguyen Thi Ha, Chairwoman of the provincial Fatherland Front Committee, visited Nghe An, which had also suffered storm damage. Bac Ninh contributed 3 billion VND in cash, while Son Ha Group provided 50 water tanks worth 75 million VND.

The delegation also visited Con Cuong commune to offer gifts to storm-affected households.

Local leaders in both provinces expressed appreciation for Bac Ninh’s prompt assistance, which they said would help stabilise lives and production after the disasters.

8-11 more storms expected this year, 3-5 to potentially hit mainland Vietnam
