Bac Ninh provincial Party chief requests strong innovation to attract workers through practical activities
BAC NINH - Trade unions must increase their appeal to workers through practical care-focused activities, said Nguyen Hong Thai, member of the Party Central Committee and Secretary of the provincial Party Committee, during a working session with the provincial Confederation of Labour on November 26.
According to the provincial Confederation of Labour, since July 1, the agency has directly managed and guided more than 2,100 grassroots trade unions in enterprises and public service units that do not receive 100% of their salaries from the state budget, with nearly 578,500 members.

Among them are 945 grassroots trade unions in industrial parks, comprising more than 444,600 members, with 81 full-time members.
In recent times, the provincial trade union has focused on its core tasks of representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate rights and interests of union members and workers, achieving positive results.
At present, 84.7% of enterprise-level grassroots trade unions coordinate workplace dialogues and conduct negotiations and signing of collective labour agreements.
It has also strengthened activities to care for workers; and notably, 100% of union members facing hardships or affected by storms and floods have received visits and gifts from the trade union.
During the meeting, delegates focused on discussing and analysing difficulties and obstacles in the activities of the provincial trade union.
In his concluding remarks, Thai acknowledged the efforts and achievements of the provincial Confederation of Labour in recent times. He also emphasised several key tasks and solutions that the unit must concentrate on in the coming period.
He noted that Bac Ninh is a major industrial province with a large workforce of nearly 800,000 people. Of this number, 60% are women; around 25,000 are foreign workers; and nearly 60% are from other provinces.
These factors present potential risks and are likely to generate issues affecting local security and order.
Additionally, the permission to establish worker representative organisations outside of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labour poses both opportunities and significant challenges for the trade union.
Therefore, the provincial Confederation of Labour must review elements affecting its organisational structure and operations in order to implement strong innovations and enhance its attractiveness to workers through the most practical support activities.
On this occasion, the provincial Party leader visited the facilities and encouraged the working spirit of officials and civil servants of the provincial Confederation of Labour.
