Over 2,300 young people receive free Quan ho folk singing classes in Bac Ninh
BAC NINH - More than 2,300 children and young people in Bac Ninh province are attending free Quan ho folk singing classes this summer, as part of a province-wide initiative to preserve and promote the UNESCO-recognized intangible cultural heritage of Quan ho Bac Ninh folk songs.
Twenty-five classes have been launched across the province by local youth organizations, providing a meaningful summer activity for students. The programme runs from July through August 31 and takes place at cultural centers, children’s houses and residential areas.

Classes are taught by experienced artisans and veteran Quan ho performers along with youth union members. The curriculum focuses on vocal techniques, ornamentation, antiphonal singing, and stage performance.
Students also learn about both traditional and modern Quan ho melodies, the genre’s cultural origins, and participate in choreographed performances reflecting the Kinh Bac cultural identity.
The programme offers children and youth a hands-on introduction to folk culture while identifying talented individuals with a passion for Quan ho singing. Those who show promise may receive further training, contributing to the long-term preservation and development of this traditional art form.
