Vietnamese circus triumphs on international stage
Vietnamese circus artists have claimed major accolades at two prestigious international circus festivals recently held in Russia and Kazakhstan, leaving a strong impression on global audiences.
The "Lotus Swing" was performed by four female artists from the Viet Nam Circus Federation — Meritorious Artist Lo Ngoc Thuy, Pham Huong, Luu Huong, and Hong Thuy — was awarded the Special Prize at the IDOL 2025 World Circus Arts Festival, which took place in Moscow from July 17 to July 20.

The festival featured participants from 15 countries: Russia, the US, China, North Korea, Viet Nam, Mongolia, Hungary, Mexico, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kazakhstan, Morocco, Australia, Portugal, and Chile.
Overcoming stiff competition from other acts, "Lotus Swing" captivated the jury and spectators alike with its breathtaking technique and elegant choreography inspired by the lotus flower – Viet Nam’s national symbol.
Alongside the special prize, the troupe was invited to perform at the Lenin Hills Circus, one of Russia’s premier venues for contemporary and professional circus arts.
Building on the success in Russia, the Viet Nam Circus Federation went on to participate in the 3rd International Circus Festival held in Almaty, Kazakhstan, from July 23 to July 26. The event was organised to mark the 55th anniversary of the Kazakhstan State Circus.
Bringing together nearly 160 performers from 15 countries, the festival featured 28 acts divided into two main programmes. People’s Artist Tong Toan Thang, Director of the Vietnam Circus Federation, was invited to serve as a jury member at the event.
The Vietnamese delegation presented the aerial duet "Duo Love", performed by Meritorious Artists Thanh Tuan and Thu Huong. The act was praised for its technical brilliance and emotional expression.
"Duo Love" was awarded one of the festival’s three gold prizes. The awards system included one Grand Prix, three golds, three silvers and three bronzes. The Grand Prix was awarded to Kazakhstan for its "Pole Climbing Tower", while the other two golds went to Russia’s aerial performance group and Ukraine’s male-female leather strap duo.
