All 34 Vietnamese cities, provinces to stage fireworks for National Day

Updated: 10:53, 19/08/2025

Thirty-four cities and provinces across Vietnam will hold cultural events, concerts, and fireworks on Sept. 2 for National Day, following a directive from Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh.

The PM said the festivities are intended to create a joyful, uplifting atmosphere, inspire the public, and enhance people's spiritual life.

A firework performance by the Vietnamese team at the Da Nang International Fireworks Festival held in Da Nang City, June 2025.

Around 200 major projects are also slated to be launched or inaugurated during the holiday.

In August 1945, a nationwide uprising seized power in just 15 days, leading to Vietnam's independence after nearly a century under French colonial rule and Japanese occupation.

On Sept. 2 that year at Ba Dinh Square, President Ho Chi Minh read the Declaration of Independence, proclaiming the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.

Preparations are underway for the military parade and march marking the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day.

Six groups are expected to participate: the traditional torch relay and honor guard; ceremonial artillery; an air force flyover; the military parade and march; background standing formations; and formations creating symbolic shapes and letters.

The parade and march will feature four honor guard contingents; 43 units representing the armed forces (26 military and 17 police) including foreign contingents; military artillery and special police vehicles; naval parades; 12 civilian marching groups; and a cultural and sports village contingent.

The background standing formations will include the honor guard at the podium, 11 military units, and seven police units.
