Bac Ninh exceeds annual forest planting target
BAC NINH – Bac Ninh province has planted more than 10,760 hectares of concentrated forests so far this year, surpassing its full-year target by 7.6%, according to the provincial Forest Protection Department.
In July, over 1,170 hectares of new forests were planted. Compared to the same period in 2024, the province has added nearly 4,000 more hectares.

The former Son Dong district recorded the largest area with over 4,430 hectares, followed by former Luc Nam district with 1,810 hectares and the combined area of former Luc Ngan and Chu township with more than 1,570 hectares.
In addition to small timber forests, the province planted more than 422.4 hectares of large timber forests in July and converted another 61.3 hectares from small to large timber forests.
This brought the total area of large timber forests to over 3,180 hectares, meeting the annual target set by provincial authorities.
The strong performance is attributed to proactive planning from late 2024, when local forest rangers advised district authorities to review recently harvested areas and formulate reforestation plans to green barren hillsides. Authorities also tightened controls on the production and sale of forestry seedlings.
Economic returns from forest products have encouraged local residents to invest in commercial tree plantations, officials said.
