The finals, held on Friday at Dong Nai Sports Training and Competition Center, featured Bac Ninh players in three of the five championship matches.

In mixed doubles, Pham Van Hai and Than Van Anh defeated Tran Dinh Manh and Luong Nguyen Khanh Ngoc of Lam Dong in straight sets, clinching Bac Ninh’s only gold medal.

The women’s singles final drew significant attention as national No.1 Tran Thi Phuong Thuy of Bac Ninh faced Nguyen Thuy Linh, Vietnam’s highest-ranked player on the world stage.

The match was fiercely contested, but Thuy Linh proved stronger in decisive moments and won 2-0.

In women’s doubles, Bac Ninh’s Than Van Anh, fatigued after competing earlier in mixed doubles, partnered with Nguyen Thi Ngoc Lan but fell to Hanoi’s Bui Bich Phuong and Vu Thi Chinh. They lost 8-21 in the first set before rallying in the second, only to narrowly miss out 23-25, settling for silver.

The two other finals went to athletes from Ho Chi Minh City, the Army, and Lam Dong, leaving Bac Ninh with three podium finishes in total.

The tournament, sponsored by Yonex-Sunrise, ran from Aug 10 to 16 and brought together more than 150 athletes from 17 provinces, cities and sports units nationwide.

Competitors battled across five events: men’s and women’s singles, men’s and women’s doubles and mixed doubles. Bac Ninh fielded 14 athletes, including eight men and six women.

Organizers said the event is the most important in Vietnam’s badminton calendar, serving as a key platform for players to sharpen skills, gain experience and further the sport’s growth in the country.
