This year’s edition runs from Aug. 7 to 17, gathering thousands of elite athletes from over 100 countries and territories to compete in 256 events across 34 sports.

Vietnam has sent largest-ever delegation to the Games, with 20 athletes competing in seven sports: Wushu, Muay Thai, Billiards, Diving, Dance Sport, Archery and Pencak Silat. The team has set a target of winning three to five medals, with wushu considered the strongest medal prospect.

Thu Thuy, competing in the women’s 60kg sanda category, demonstrated strong form from the preliminary rounds. In the decisive match, she fought with determination but ultimately settled for silver. The result reinforced Vietnam’s position as a competitive wushu nation internationally.

Her success was part of a wider contribution from Vietnam’s wushu squad. Do Huy Hoang took silver in the men’s 56kg sanda event while Ngo Thi Phuong Nga earned bronze in the women’s 52kg category.
