In order to meet this requirement, the provincial Department of External Affairs has devised a plan on promoting the establishment of local-level relations and implemented many activities to develop those relationships.

For Japanese localities, in 2017, the Department of External Affairs advised the provincial People's Committee to exchange information and goodwill to cooperate with Gifu prefecture. Responding to the letter of the Chairman of the Bac Giang Provincial People's Committee, Gifu Governor Hajime Furata also expressed his wish to promote cooperation between the two localities, including the exchange of delegations.

Since 2015, the Japan-Japan Friendship Association’s chapter in Chukyo region (Gifu prefecture) has presented Bac Giang province 700 Japanese cherry blossom and peach trees, while supporting the care of the trees. In addition, the association has closely coordinated with the Department of External Affairs in implementing cultural exchange activities, high-tech agricultural production cooperation, and social security support. These are the initial steps in the process of establishing cooperative ties between Bac Giang and Gifu.

Bac Giang province is also promoting the establishment of local-level relations with Guangxi and Hebei provinces of China. These localities have the trade, investment, and labour ties with the province. Especially, Pingxiang county of Guangxi province has a large fruit wholesale market which is considered an important transit point to bring Bac Giang's export agricultural products including lychee to other cities of China.

In recent years, the authorities of Bac Giang has cooperated very effectively with Pingxiang county’s government in organising conferences and seminars on promoting trade of lychee and other key agricultural products of the province. The government and people of Pingxiang county have taken numerous measures to support Bac Giang province's farm produce sales. Thanks to those efforts, lychee and many agricultural products of Bac Giang are exported favourably to China.

Identifying the Republic of Korea as one of the important partners of Bac Giang province in many areas such as FDI investment, ODA support, foreign non-governmental cooperation, cultural exchange and people-to-people diplomacy, the Department of External Affairs, the agency in charge of the province’s external affairs, has focused on developing relations with RoK localities. 

Through support from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and a number of Korean organizations and businesses, some localities such as Anyang city, Pohang city, Seo district of Daejeon city, and Icheon city have expressed their interest in boosting cooperation with Bac Giang. The two sides have actively organised many meetings and direct exchanges.

Bac Giang city is currently the first and only district-level locality in the province that has promoted many people-to-people diplomatic activities with some cities of Italy, China and the RoK. In particular, Bac Giang city sent delegations to meet with the government of Seo district of Daejeon city (the Republic of Korea).

Nguyen Tien Dung, Standing Vice Chairman of the Bac Giang city People's Committee said: Seo is the central district of Daejeon city, with a population of nearly 500,000 and an area of 94.48 sq.m. It houses administrative agencies, cultural, medical, educational and business facilities... 

This locality has many strong points that Bac Giang city authorities are looking toward in its process of building itself into a first-tier city: Being green and modern city with a harmonious combination with nature and information technology; administrative reform; and the strong development of education, culture and health.

The establishment of these relationships not only shows the close connection between Bac Giang province and foreign localities but also serves as a basis for realising cooperation and exchange activities in all fields, contributing to the overall socio-economic development of the province. This is also one of the successes in the province's diplomatic work in the context of current international integration.

Bac Giang leaders extend Tet Greetings to Chinese and Korean Embassy

(BGO) – The Chairman of the Bac Giang provincial People’s Committee (PPC) Nguyen Van Linh on January 8 paid a visit and extended New Year Greetings to the newly-accredited Chinese Ambassador to Vietnam Xiong Bo on the occasion of the upcoming Lunar New Year 2019 with the leader of the provincial Department of Foreign Affair (DoFA) and several Chinese enterprises investing in the province in attendance.

 

VK-Tech qualified with Korean quality verification

(BGO) – The Vietnam Korea Vocational College of Technology (VK - Tech) located at Lang Giang district, Bac Giang province on December 6 coordinated with Korean Institute of Practice Engineering Education (KIPEE) to announce the assessment of the VK – Tech’s qualification with the quality verification criteria of Korean Government.

Bac Giang lychee lures numerous Chinese customers

(BGO) – Bac Giang lychee has long been known as the favorite fruit of many domestic and foreign customers, including residents and tradesmen in Pingxiang town, Guangxi province (China) which is adjacent to Tan Thanh border gate. On the main harvest season, thousands of tonnes of lychee are daily gathered here waiting for the customer clearance to be proceeded then delivered to the Chinese markets.
